Poverty reduction is often said that although economic growth alone is not a sufficient precondition for success is nevertheless necessary. Economic growth can in fact be helpful, but it is not directly causal to it. There can be poverty reduction even without growth.

How can growth follow poverty? How could it be a cause for growth? Necessity breeds creativity that could cause development or invention. But poverty per se, especially if it is coupled with complacency, could never be an ingredient for growth. It is only an enlightened citizenry or society that can bring about growth. Conditions do not give rise to it. A renewing of the mind of people is needed for a nation to grow economically.
