The signs and symptoms of diabetes can be easily detected as health experts, and doctors often say that both type 1 and type 2 diabetes have the following symptoms.

Fatigue. People who are positive of diabetes often get easily tired. This is the natural tendency of the body since it is unable to maximize and exhaust the amount of glucose that our body has. Yes, it is true that diabetes is having an amount of glucose in the body that is over than the usual, however, instead of the body being able to make use of this glucose, it is unable to do so. Instead of making use of the glucose, the body utilizes other fats in the body which then results to the weakening of the body.
Weight loss. People with diabetes would experience a sudden drop of their weight. This is due to the fact that the body is unable to utilize the calories that it has stored. This further results to the body's sudden weight drop. Apparently, even if the person eats as much than their usual meal, the body never gains weight.
Frequent Thirst Feeling. People who are diabetic would often feel thirsty. However, no matter how many glasses of water they drink daily, they would notice that it seems that the thirst never quenches. The reason for such is that the body has high levels of blood sugar which in turn results to the kidney's ability to reabsorb the sugar as the blood is filtered in the process of respiration. Thus, the natural tendency of the body is to get rid of the excess sugar which can only be done by drinking lots of liquid water.
Excessive Urination. Since the body tries to dispose the excess sugar by means of stimulating the brain to drink lots of water, the result would be excessive urination. However, no matter how much you urinate, it seems that the body is having a hard time of removing the excess sugar or glucose in our body.
Excessive eating. One of the effects of having high glucose in our body is that it stimulates hunger. Thus, we tend to eat so much in order for the body's natural tendency to normalize the glucose of our body. The more we eat, the more our body generates insulin.
Slow wound healing. One of the signs of having high glucose level in our body is slow wound healing. If you get cut, or have a wound, try to observe how long the healing process takes. You would notice that people with diabetes has slower than normal wound healing.
Infections. Having infections is also one symptom of diabetes. You would often notice that there are certain skin infections that are common for diabetics such as: genital and skin infections; urinary tract infections.
Mental Instability. Other physicians or doctors would call this symptom as altered mental status. However, we would like to call it mental instability. This is often characterized by unexplained irritability, inattention, extreme lethargy or confusion. This is due to the signs of having high glucose level in your blood. Other symptoms include ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar, hyperglycemia nonketotic syndrome, and hypoglycemia.
Blurred vision. Having high glucose level in the body is often characterized by having a blurry or blurred vision. This is one of the first things that is affected by diabetes. This is often the reason why people with diabetes get blinded as the diabetes becomes worse.

Knowing the symptoms would always be half the battle. Health awareness is very important especially in today's time. We must not only be aware of the illness itself but also be aware of the symptoms of the illness in order for us to be able to identify it.
Living a healthy life would be one way of preventing the contraction of diabetes. You have to do your daily exercise, and regulate or control your food intake. As part of a precautionary measure to prevent diabetes, you can start checking about the different preventive medicine available in the market. These are often health supplements that are made out of herbal products. There are several herbal products out in the market here in the Philippines that help one prevent diabetes and even cures those with early stages of diabetes.
Health awareness is not just about being informed, but looking for ways of preventing it. Let's start being more aware of diabetes symptoms and also start with prevention as it has always been said, prevention is better than cure.

Diabetes mellitus is a serious metabolic disease, affecting people of all geographic, ethnic or racial origin and its prevalence is increasing globally1. Burden from this costly disease is high on the low and middle income countries (LMIC) where the impacts of modernization and urbanization have caused marked adverse changes in lifestyle parameters.

The signs and symptoms of diabetes are disregarded by many because of the chronic progression of the disease. People do not consider this as a serious problem because unlike many other diseases the consequences of hyperglycaemia are not manifested immediately. People are not aware that damage can start several years before symptoms become noticeable. This is unfortunate because recognition of early symptoms can help to get the disease under control immediately and to prevent vascular complications.

Warning signs & classic symptoms of diabetes
The classic symptoms of diabetes such as polyuria, polydypsia and polyphagia occur commonly in type 1 diabetes, which has a rapid development of severe hyperglycaemia and also in type 2 diabetes with very high levels of hyperglycaemia. Severe weight loss is common only in type 1 diabetes or if type 2 diabetes remains undetected for a long period. Unexplained weight loss, fatigue and restlessness and body pain are also common signs of undetected diabetes. Symptoms that are mild or have gradual development could also remain unnoticed.

This is the reason why I keep exercising because diabetes is common in both my mother's and father's side of the family making it a big chance that I can get it if I am not careful.

Since a pretty adequate answer has been provided regarding the symptoms of diabetes, I would like to explain the three main types of diabetes:

Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent diabetes). It is an autoimmune disease with a possible genetic predisposition. It occurs at any age, but mostly in children, teenagers or young people. In this type of diabetes, the pancreas produces little or no insulin.
Type 2 diabetes (insulin independent diabetes). This is the most common form of diabetes. It mainly affects adults, but in recent years it has also occurred in teenagers and young people due to excessive weight gain. In this type of diabetes, the pancreas usually produces insulin, but either that amount is insufficient for the needs of the body or the cells are insulin resistant.
Gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is characterized by high blood glucose levels and occurs at any time during pregnancy in women who have not previously suffered from diabetes. This condition must be controlled as it can affect the normal growth and development of the baby. About 2-4% of pregnant women are affected by gestational diabetes.
