What writing clichés are you trying to avoid?

The answer: all of them! ...Just kidding. There are so many clichés now that writing a story without some is practically impossible. And clichés by themselves are not even necessarily bad, I think. It depends on the execution. But are there any clichés you are looking out for specifically? For me it`s probably the Chosen One syndrom.

A writing cliché I have learned to avoid from my experience in writing is similar to the one mentioned in the above post. This is the Mary Sue or Gary Stu character. This is a character that is seemingly perfect in all ways. The flaws are barely noticeable or this type of character has no flaws at all. A type of character that you cannot relate with in real life and would probably not even survive real life.
