My parents bought my first computer and it was a desktop computer.
One of the first accessories I got for it was a cartridge that had a version of BASIC in it, and i ended up typing in the code for several text-based games, from some books i got.
This computer ended up being more or less responsible for my becoming a computer professional. At the time I worked as a machinist, and was having a personal crisis about my work (which I was learning was rather unhealthful in the long term — for one thing all the guys I new who had been machinists for about 20 years or so tended to be missing the tips of one or more fingers, and to have at least one eye injury.) I myself had had an accident with a band-saw and damned near cut off 2 of my fingers around the first knuckle, and had in the preceding year had to go to an ER to have iron filings pulled out of one eye. I had also recently learned that almost every metal i was cutting had lead in it, and was feeling increasingly concerned about the toxicity of the smoke and fumes emitted when cutting metal (mostly from burning lubricants used in the cutting process). I had been staring absent-mindedly at my little computer set-up, and suddenly experienced an epiphany, “people get paid to make computers do things!” I almost immediately enrolled in a vocational school to become an electronics technician, and over a period of about 3 years taught myself a couple of programming languages, and managed to get hired at a start-up company as a programmer! And that was how i became a computer professional.
This question look some how to answer, my parent purchase a new laptop for me and my younger brother we started learning from here and get our knowledge well advance in computer field.
Its a responsibility of the parent to provide the basic need for his or her children mostly now that the world is full of competition in both education and computer/telecom field,so its our responsibility as parent to provide our children with tools that can help advance their skills in ICT sector.
My aunt was the first one who bought me laptop.
My grandparents gave me a lot of money to spend so I decided to spend it on a PC.
That is good you really think as someone that has a brighther future, some people will spend the money buying candies and lalipop but you use it to purchase a computer system.
This will help you learn various trade and collect information that can improve the quality of your life.
Owning a computer system is very good it's what every good parent should think of before sending their children to school .
My dad, it's a long time (relatively)
@Maxim try and lengthen your post we don't welcome one line of post here , you said your father bought you your first computer? That is very good but can you tell me how many people where in your house-hold that needed the same device? and he chose to purchase the computer for only you.
Your father is genarous I demanded a computer from my parent when I was in hogh school but they dim me the access for it until when I get to the university where I was sent home from class before I was provide with one, not doubt some family have their rules and policy they operate on so all family can never be the same.
My grandparents visit us every year during the winter. My grandfather goes through my and my siblings' exam report card to check our progress. In the winter of 2008, when I was in class 7, he was impressed with my grade in computer and concluded that I would perform better if given access to a PC. My parents were against the idea but he had his way and bought a computer for us.
As expected by my parents, the machine was never used for the intended purpose. I and my siblings would play video games all day which consequently had a negative impact on our grades. I assume my grandfather must have regretted his decision.
My mom bought me a computer when I was grade 7. She asked me what gift I want when I graduated elementary and I told her I want a computer, since I can also use it to make homeworks, projects and etc. And up until now I just graduated in college, our computer is still working fine.
That is very great your mom was so generous to present such item to you on your graduation day it's an expensive gift off-cos , and you own a computer set at a tender age .
There are some home that will never care about presenting such item to their children ,computer set is a basic need for every home that know the use of technology and education.
When I started using my computer there was nothing like internet service, I use it to type document with microsoft word and learn how to use graphics design but i was latar introduce to the internet.
My very first computer is bought by my mom. It was a gift when I was in college because I took up Computer in a major course. It was a big help to me when I had a computer, and now, I bought my own laptop.
That was a precious gift your mom presented to you ,computer set is so expensive if anyone present it to you as gift then such fellow is very genarous.
This days owning a laptop is very simple and you can get fairly use or brand new depend on which one you can afford to get.
Our very first computer was both by my mother, on that times, when I was just 10 years old I think, and the computer that we are using is only a Pentium 1 or 2 if I remember it right, and it has a pre-installed console games on it. Me and my brother are the one who is playing it, in a multilayer mode, which we use the keyboards as a controllers, the game was Metal Slug .
That is really great your mom is a good caring mother to purchase you and your brother a computer set at that age.
I can remember back then owning a pentium m computer set was like having a vehicle that can converge you to different destination, there is a great need for parent to provide the neccesary learning item to his or her children at the right-time.
My mother bought me my first computer back in 2015. It was a graduation gift from her since my laptop that time died because of overheating. I have spent a lot of time using that computer and was the best gift. Today I don't use that computer anymore but is in the basement because it have served me well for years and I don't want to dispose something memorable and precious like that computer.
My father bought me my first computer back when 2005 or 2006 i dont much remember it but i am just elementary that day.The games that i played is low graphics and the internet is very slow that day is like .5 mbps if you play video in youtube it will buffering all the time if you didn't pause it before you play. And i love to read Encarta that day in my first computer.
My First computer specifications is pentium 4 with 256 ram ddr2 and the storage is 256GB HDD .The specs of my first computer that day is good, quality and fast. I can play counter strike, battle realms, and Dota , and Hangaroo too. My first computer i use that until 2010 because is turning slow because all the software and games has improved.
I remember during my college my mother buy us a personal computer for the whole family. This was very big help from us for the education and for the business also.
My first computer was given to me by my father. I always wanted a computer so I always bagged my father. Everyone used to use some kind if computer to play games and I was being left out. I remember it was days before Christmas holiday . I made a huge scene in our house. My father got so fed up that he held my hand and took to a store and bought me my first computer
My mom bought my first computer. It was supposed to be for school. It was a really small and cheap one. I remember it being crashing all the time. It was my fault, though. It was intended to be used for school but I used it for gaming and watching movies. I can't complain. For the price, it gave a good service.
My Mom actually did. It was a desktop Compaq old system.
I got my first computer from my dad as a gift. It was a HP Compaq machine. I received this gift as a reward for having passed my final high school exams back in the year 2008. The kind of motivation that this gesture gave me, was so enormous, that i developed a career from it.
I was 11 years old, When my parents bought to me. it was the HP Pavilion g6, super budget laptop, was my FIRST laptop I have owned. I believe this cost me around $500.
The first ever computer was my brother's. He took a loan just so he can buy a XP based Intel Pentium 4 computer. Honestly, having it was a blast. We used to play Warcraft 3, GTA Vice City, The Sims 2 or Age of Mythology. I still have the parts at my parents' place.
Your brother was so generous he really took a bold step to aquire the loan just to buy you a computer set,I have seen so many people sold their property to the same thing.
Some parent are so caring that they can buy their children computer even when they dont demand for one.the major thing is that you learn how to use this device before you can be presented with one.
My papa bought our first computer. I still remember it clearly, year 2006. But he had help with our neighbor who was at that time considered the "tech guy" and they bought it in parts which he assembled.
I was so happy after coming home from school I jumped many times on top of my bed That time only a few household in my country could afford buying one. Most people depend on going to internet cafes.
Now almost every household has more than one computer or laptop of their own.
My mother bought my first computer. It was for the sole purpose of education . Unlike now where I can use it to play games, watch movies and browse the world wide web.
I think it would be safe to assume that most of the answers here in this thread would be their parents. I am not an exception to this. My parents were also the ones who bought our first computer. It was a family computer, meaning everyone could use it. I used it more than others, though.
I was thankful for my parents that they bought us a computer, though. I learned surfing the internet at a young age. I also learned troubleshooting, since we don't have any money at that time to repair it to a technician.
I already given out the specs of that computer to another post here:
Our father and uncle bought us our first computer. They basically looked for cheaper ones, those that are of bargain price already. I remember it was an Intel Celeron with 500mb ram. I remembered it to be you typical desktop computer then, system unit would be placed on the table and the monitor with be placed on top of it. It also had a floppy disk drive back then (which we were unable to use anyway). We were able to install multiple offline games to it. That computer lasted for almost 10 years before it finally succumbed to its age. That thing never even tasted the thing called, "The Internet".
My father bought me my first computer , for me to use it in my school.
